Khawat’s leadership structure honors the generations of wisdom and diverse voices within our network.

Our sisterhood is made up of:

    •    Khawat (Sisters) – our core members

    •    Khawat Youth – our younger sisters

    •    Khaltos (Aunties) – our guiding figures

    •    Omhat (Mothers) – our pillars of wisdom

This model represents the flow of knowledge between generations, allowing us to uplift and learn from one another.

Some of us have already secured a seat at the table, while others are still preparing for that journey. However, one of the most powerful aspects of our model is centering our Omhat—our mothers—who carry a wealth of experience, deep community ties, and a mana that strengthens the Khawat network. By embracing their leadership and insight, we can build a more connected and empowered sisterhood.
